necessarily connected to the essence of a subject
It refers to a predicate that is necessarily connected to the essence of a subject, either as a constituent part of its definition or as a necessary consequence of it. It stands in direct opposition to an accidental predicate. For example, “Having the sum of its interior angles equal to two right angles” is dhātī to “triangle.”
